Consider it all Joy

6 HIM’s joined YHC on a muggy Monday morning for my first Q at the recently opened Big Guy (RHHS).  I had been to a recon before and posted the previous week so I jumped at the chance to Q when asked by Ringo.  1-2 guys rolled up hot and seeing there were no FNG’s a quick disclaimer was disclaimed and we began with the warm-up which consisted of the following:

20 SSH

15 Seal Jacks

15 Windmills

15 Cherry Pickers followed by deep stretch forward and L over R & R over L and we were off…

We moseyed over to the side of the school and found some picnic benches and did 20 Irkins, 20 Dirkins, 20 dips all OYO.  Then we ran over to the track and circled up for some ab work which included:

20 Flutters / 6 inches

20 Boxcutters / 6 inches

20 Freddie Mercuries / 6 inches

20 Hello Dollies

25 Merkins

Then we ran a lap around the track (1/4 mile) and did 25 more Merkins.  Another short mosey up to the parking lot and Bear crawled to the 1st light, crab crawled to the 2nd light, Toy Soldiers to the 3rd light, and butt kickers to the 4th light.  After a quick recovery, we ran over to the long breezeway and lunge walked one end to the other.  Then we found a wall near the end of the breezeway and got in People’s Chair followed by BTW.  Then we moseyed around back to the stairs and partnered up.  While one PAX ran up and down the stairs, the other did Merkins, no count, just Merkins until they returned (repeated for 3 rounds).  YHC shared the following verse with the PAX:

James 1: 2-3

Brothers & sisters, when trouble comes your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know when your faith is tested your endurance has a chance to grow

Shared some thoughts with the PAX that we are not immune from adversity and difficulties.  God never promised us that everything would be OK, but that he would always be with us.  When difficulties come your way, it’s important to remember that out of adversity, growth will take place.  Drew the parallel with training – if you want to train for something like a marathon or Ironman, you do hard things, you train hard, and out of that adversity, growth takes place.  It’s the same with our lives – when our faith is tested, when challenges present themselves – Call it all Joy!

We finished up the morning by heading back to the track and re-engaging our core with

20 Flutters / 6 inches

20 LBC’s / 6 inches

20 Freddie Mercuries

We returned back to the COT and finished up a round of Dan Taylors, making it up to 5 squats and 20 lunges.  We closed with the Pledge of Allegiance, announcements and praises & prayers.  Thanks Ringo for the opportunity to lead – always an honor
