Contentment in all Situations

It was an honor to lead 11 HIMs around one of the Rock’s newest AOs this humid but cool morning. Thank you PCH for the opportunity. After I gave the F3 disclaimer, we started with a warmup that was quick (after all, I am not used to these 45-minute workouts anymore).

We began with the following in cadence: Side Straddle Hops, Abe Vigodas, Merkins, and Peter Parker Peters. We then all performed 10-Burpees OYO.

We moseyed, still warming up with butt kickers, high knees, karaokes, and shuffles, to the back of the Middle School building where I had previously noticed some picnic tables and partnered up. We did the following: Partner 1 ran around the building while Partner 2 stayed back to perform the following exercises: Irkins, Dips, Derkins, Step-Ups.

We then moseyed to the back of the Elementary School building where we performed the following in the parking lot: Merkins, Wide Arm Merkins, and Diamond Merkins at one end and Low Slow Squats, Squat Jumps, and 180 Squat Jumps at the other end. Between the two areas we sprinted to keep our heart rate up.

We then moseyed to the front of the COT to perform some ab lab.

Being content in all situations is difficult for us all. I have definitely struggled with it before and am sure to face discontent again.

As I look to the F3/Forest Hill-Fort Mill Colombia Mission Team, I see a group of men full of contentment with where God has placed them. Their trip to Colombia was ended in Miami due Hurricane Irma, and I am sure they were all disappointed. Who wouldn’t be? However, their desire to serve God by serving others did not stop. They returned home to their families and friends, and then had another meeting to discuss the possibilities. Throughout the entire time I have seen the contentment with their situation.

So, as they have placed their faith and trust in God, they have put all of their anxieties on Him and have been content. This group of 13 men are now going to Florida tomorrow with a van load of supplies and goods to distribute to those in need after the hurricane has passed through.

By trusting in God, wanting to serve Him, and being content, they are now on the mission that God had originally planned for them. I can guarantee that they have learned a lot about themselves and their Lord through the time.

Philippians 4:11B ‘for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.’
