11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

In the Old Testament Mosaic law, when the priest were on duty in the temple, they never sat down.  They were always making sacrifices (slaughtering livestock),  hauling water to fill the large basins, filling the lamps with olive oil and ministering to the people. It was never over. When Jesus died on the corss one of the last seven statements He said, was “It is finished” and we learn in Hebrews 10 that when he ascended to the Father in heaven, He as out great High Priest sat down at the right hand of God. This sitting down demonstrates to us that It is Finished. (More to come at the end)

3rd F
Psalm 33:13-19

The Lord looks down from heaven;
    he sees all the children of man;
14 from where he sits enthroned he looks out
    on all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 he who fashions the hearts of them all
    and observes all their deeds.
16 The king is not saved by his great army;
    a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
17 The war horse is a false hope for salvation,
    and by its great might it cannot rescue.

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
    on those who hope in his steadfast love,
19 that he may deliver their soul from death
    and keep them alive in famine.

This time of year while it wonderful to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, our culture has taken it to far.  Our focus in on the manager and the baby Jesus, however, this is not who He is or where He is today. He sees all (v13-14), He is our creator and is with us (v15), our weak efforts to make ourselves conformable, pain free and solve our our problems are worthless and a waste of time, energy and resources. (v16-17). God is not a distant, far off old man deity watching and waiting for us to mess up so He can punish us.  He is our perfect heavenly father who loves us perfectly.  It is said that people need four things to live, food, water, shelter and clothing.  I’d like to suggest that we need one additional thing, hope.  He is worthy of all our worship, love and hope.  He is faithful.

Today, He sits on His throne no longer a baby born to an unwed, teenage mom.  He is no longer a child growing up in a small rural, Israeli hick town.  He is no longer a poor carpenter.  He is no longer a beaten, suffering man hanging on a cross.  Jesus is now high and exalted ruling and reigning on His throne in heaven!!  The baby in a manager was a humble start but is wasn’t over there. There is great hope there.  Now matter where you are, what you’re dealing with, what sin you’re carrying and afraid to confess, Jesus is there on His throne ready to hear from you.  Run to him no matter what. (Hebrews 4:16, Ephesians 3:12)

Love to all, if you’d like to talk and/or pray or just want someone to listen, I’m glad to make it happen.
