Today was a little different as YHC and Van Damme decided a couple of months ago to switch sites for a day so we could experience another AO on a Monday. This was a great experience for us and we trust it was for you as well.
After a surprise visit from the Old Town crowd, YHC led the group of 9 PAX in a short warmup at the AO as we began to mosey toward performing the following as we went: High knees, butt kickers, shuffle (both ways), & karaoke (both ways). We then stopped in front of Tillman Hall at the American Flag to say the Pledge of Allegiance led by Boomer.
At the flag we performed the following in a COP: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Peter Parker Peters, Merkins & Low Slow Squats. We then moseyed to the infamous stairs at the back of Tillman Hall.
We then began the real work and partnered up:
Partner 1 runs to the top of the fire escape while partner 2 exercises At the bottom of the stairs. Plank after each round of exercise, pick up the 6, or assist other groups finish.
100 Hip Thrusters (think Mtn. Climber with both legs).
100 Jump Squats.
At this point the PAX was told it was a deconstructed burpee.
We then moseyed back to the AO for a COT and a little short ab lab.
Burpees are difficult, especially when the Q asks you to do 100 of them. However, if you break them down into the three exercises that make up a Burpee, they are much easier to get through. Also, if you have a partner to lean on, they get even easier.
Life is like a Burpee. It is difficult, but if you attack it day by day, and even minute by minute, the daunting large tasks seem much easier. Once you are able to manage the smaller tasks the large task is complete before you know it. Also, if you have someone to lean on through life, it is even easier.
I want to introduce you to something called Whetstone, a program within F3 Rock Region. You are paired up with another PAX and you two meet regularly to discuss the good and bad times of life. This is another HIM you can lean on and another HIM that will need you to be there for him to lean on. If you haven’t done so, I highly recommend you sign up for the Whetstone program. Look it up in the region newsletter.
