Take off the Blinders

    • When: 3/16/2018
    • QIC: Canseco
    • The PAX: Apache, Burgundy, Honeypot, PawPaw, Popeye

The Veteran is where my running game began over a year and half ago.  I was running maybe once or twice a week before F3 entered my life (Thanks to Reborn who wouldn’t let me go) but never in the cold.  I would run 2.5 to 3 miles at a time.  So being able to Q this AO allowed me to reflect.  This is where I learned who Burgundy is.  I vividly  remember running hill repeats/sprints with Burgundy and Blades one cold morning thinking I might not make it but I wanted to keep up with best.  It was then that I realized I need this!  Thanks to each of you out there in the gloom for bringing some much needed discipline into my life.

That being said it is P200 season so running was on the menu.

Warm Up:

Left Over Right

Right Over Left:

The Thang:

Mosey to Waterford Drive and turn left where we stopped at the bottom of that wonderful hill that connects to Dave Lyle.  (Oh Yeah!  At this point Apache and Popeye could not be found so we proceeded with the plan.  They had already given a disclaimer that they might dissappear.)

2 Hill Repeats

At the bottom 10 Merkins in Cadence

At the bottom 10 Squats OYO

At the Top 10 Merkins in Cadence

Proceeded with running down Dave Lyle and around Hobby Lobby and Back to the AO for a total of 5 miles where we reconnected with Apache and Popeye who did the parking lot shuffle.  All done at an 8 minute pace which allowed for plenty of conversation between Honeypot, Burgundy, PawPaw (This HIM needs to be on a P200 team) and myself.

I was reminded this week of how I often I view my day as it only pertains to me. I am guilty of not placing my family first at times. I am guilty of not doing the small things that speak the loudest. I am guilty of not giving of my time to others. I am guilty of not speaking up when I should.  I could go on and on and on.  We must take off our blinders everyday whatever they are and remember what He has done for us.

I am so glad that we have one who laid down his life and thought of us before Himself in order that we might receive the greatest gift of all!

Philippians 2:3-9 English Standard Version (ESV)

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name.
