At the halfway point of the two laps around the AO, I shared a story of a man that had two sons. The younger son came to the father one day and said, “I wish you were dead and I want my share of the inheritance that is due to me now.” In that culture, the shares of inheritance were divided equally among the male children with the eldest getting an extra share. So in this case, the oldest would get 2/3 of the estate and the younger 1/3. But the father didn’t have a bank account to withdraw from because his wealth was in land, cattle, sheep, goats, vineyards, etc. But he humbled himself and sold off a third of his property and gave it to the younger son. The younger son took that money and went to a foreign land where he spent it living large for a time. But eventually, the fun ran out with the money and he found himself broke and hungry. He got a job slopping pigs, but the pigs were eating better then he was so he thought he would go home. Not as a son though, as a hired hand. He didn’t think that there was any way he could be restored. What he didn’t know was that his father watched for him every day. And one day, his father saw him and did something that men would never do in that culture – he hitched up his robes and ran to meet his son. The son fell down and started in on the speech he had been rehearsing, but the Father fell down beside him and hugged him and showered him with kisses. He didn’t listen to any of the speech, but instead took off his robe and put it around his son. Took off his ring and placed it on his son’s finger. He not only took him back, he fully restored him to sonship.

You and I have a father like this. God loves you and is much more concerned about the direction you are headed in and your relationship with him than he is your past. Come to him, trust in him, renew your relationship with him. There is nothing that you have done in the past that disqualifies you from a relationship with the Father. If you want to know more, let me know. It would be an honor to talk with you.

Polymer Out.
