9 HIMS of the Rock Region gathered today at Old Town to sharpen iron and fellowship. With 1 FNG there we reviewed the mission of F3 along with the 5 core principles. A disclaimer was provided and we moved on to the warm up. This was only my second time as Q at Old Town and I was really looking forward to the day. I was particularly charged after listening to a sermon the prior day from an old friend but more on that later. After the warm up we rolled down Main Street to the covered circle near the fountain to get started with some core work.
We did 50 flutters along with a set of V ups, chopsticks and box cutters. The core is the center of our fitness and where strength comes from so I like to incorporate core work into my workouts. After this was completed we walked over to the road beside the fountain with plans to bear crawl to the first station then crab walk to the second station and bear crawl to the last but we were cut short after 2 rounds by a car and YHC called and Omaha and we rolled over to the hot box. Here we partnered up for some partner work. We did 3 sets of partner 1 doing 25 Australian Mountain Climbers while partner 2 did SSH. All the men did great and the hot box lived up to its name. After a quick recovery we went for a mosey to the amphitheater at City Hall and did 2 sets of leg lifts at 20 reps each leg. Then we went over to the stair steps and did a stroll up Merkin Mountain with 3 Irkins at each step. Then I introduced bat wings to the group. If your not familiar with it check out the Exicon. It’s a real shoulder burner. Then we went on another mosey and headed back to the entrance of the hot box where YHC used the recovery to speak to the PAX. The prior day I had the opportunity to hear an old friend preach at First Baptist. Jay Hardwick was a former pastor of mine at NRHC and came to guest preach today. It was great to see him but even better to hear what he shared. He shared the following verse with us and I was compelled to share it with the PAX today
Psalm 1 1-2
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord
He equated our faith walk to planning a fitness goal. You don’t decide to run a marathon or do an Ironman and go do it the next day. That would be very hard and you will likely fail. Instead you put a plan together and you get to executing the plan. Your discipline becomes a delight. You are focused and smart. Your walk with the Lord is much the same way or it should be. Are you being intentional living in his word each day? Are you living as Christ intended ? Are you avoiding the wicked and living with those who delight in HIM? He actually mentioned F3 in his sermon and said there are men in Rock Hill who exercise and fellowship together and love the Lord. I challenge you to ask yourself these questions and speak to your Whetstone partner if you are struggling in any of these areas
Next we headed over the pull up bars next to the First ARP church and 2 at a time we did pull ups until failure while the other PAX did various exercises including Merkins squats and others I can’t remember. To finish up our morning we went on a mile run around town. Altogether we covered 3-4 miles and got in a full body workout.
We we closed out the morning with Name a Rama and the count along with prayers and praises. We also named our FNG. Welcome Bertolli and great job by Pink Panther EH’ing this HIM.
Thanks Canseco for allowing me the opportunity to lead today. It’s always an honor to do so
