Sometimes you think you have a plan and then it goes in a different direction.  Today was one of those days for me as 13 runners and bootcampers met at The Commons today with YHC on Q.  I thought I had a workout planned but it went in a different direction…more on that later

The bell rang 0500 and a few guys were out running and those posting for the working gathered for the warmup with SSH, light stretching and others.  The plan today was to go for a mile or so run to the parking lot across from ROCO and try out the new workout deck of cards YHC received in the mail yesterday from the F3 Gear Store, so that’s what we did.  After finishing the warm-up we began our run and once we arrived we got to the boot part of the morning.  YHC explained that I had just received the deck of cards and we took turns pulling cards and did a few exercises including American Hammers, bear crawls and Merkins.  After a few rounds, YHC called an Omaha and we moseyed over to the pull up bars and each man did 10 pull ups while the rest of the PAX did Al Gore, planks & flutters.  Once completed, we began our mosey back to the AO.  YHC spent some time running thinking back on the workout we were wrapping up and I was reminded of something that tied with the word of the month – ‘Mark’.  I stopped the PAX near Independence and shared with the PAX what this morning had helped me remember.  If I’m honest with myself, the workout this morning was good, but was not the Mark I had intended.  I was trying something new with the cards but it wasn’t working for me.  When I lead a workout, I try to be intentional and leave The Mark I intended to do so.  The cards left it up to chance so I was leaving A Mark, not The Mark.  This was a great reminder for me and something I shared with the guys.  If you want to leave The Mark, you must plan, execute, and be intentional.  If you want to leave A Mark, there will be more variables, chance, turns, less intentionality.  It was a great reminder for me personally.  Like I said, sometimes a day, a relationship, or just life; goes in a different direction and you adjust.  It was a great morning and thanks Blueprint for allowing me the opportunity to lead

We closed out the morning with a few announcements, prayers and praises.  Great work by all the men.  Go leave The Mark today –

Ponytail out –
