It was an honor to lead 9 of Rock Hill’s finest HIM at this AO where YHC led his VQ Warmup, VQ WO, and was even the Site Q thanks to Italian Job. Thank you Socrates for allowing YHC the opportunity to lead the PAX this warm and humid February gloom.
YHC started with the F3 Disclaimer and the following warmup:
We started this morning with the usual warmup from YHC; all in cadence: Side Straddle Hops, Imperial Walkers, Low Slow Squats, Merkins, Peter Parker Peters. Then we took a real quick mosey over to the fountain on the other side of Moe’s.
We began this morning’s workout with a series of the following in cadence at the fountain: 10 Irkins, 10 Dips, 10 Step-Ups, & 10 Derkins. YHC then asked the PAX to take a short mosey over to the front of the event center where YHC had previously decided where we would circle up.
Each PAX in the circle was given a different exercise to start off with. Then YHC requested that the PAX perform the exercise given to them in cadence along with YHC. The exercises were Merkins, Low Slow Squats, LBC’s, Alt. Lunges, Diamond Merkins, Big Boy Sit-ups, Blast Off Merkins, Reverse Lunges, Tricycles, CDD’s. After we went through a cadence count, the PAX were to rotate to their left having to tell the PAX next to him what he performed and get the new exercise he was supposed to do from a different brother. We started off well as YHC was giving the PAX time to get ready between each exercise. After 5 sets and moving pretty well, we took a short mosey and came back to the circle for a round of 10 6-count burpees.
YHC then picked up the pace between exercises to attempt to cause confusion. This was done to give the PAX an example of the curve balls that we face in life that will throw us out of our normal rhythm and will keep us from serving others. This is because we will be not accelerating forward in a manner that is beneficial to ourselves. After we performed 5 more exercises we took another short mosey out and back to the circle for another round of 6-count burpees.
Then we headed to the theater parking lot to begin a round of 11’s including Burpees and Bombjacks. After we completed them we headed back to the COT for about 2-minutes of Ab-Lab.
Over the past four years, YHC has had to come to the realization that in order to serve anyone, a man has to first get right. If he does not do this, all of his actions are void because his unspoken message is meaningless. Meaning if you haven’t gotten right yourself it shows without even speaking anything. People can see right through it and service to others won’t matter because they won’t regard it as trustworthy.
Recently I had a conversation with an acquaintance of mine who was struggling with addiction. This man has a young son and an ex-wife who is also an addict. He had custody of his son, but his parents are his current guardians due to his struggles.
He had tried to ‘fix’ his problem himself, been in and out of rehab and jail, and had even moved back into his parents home for their assistance (enabling). He had finally hit rock bottom. His ex-wife was in a program to get clean and he was afraid that she would get his son back from him. I told him the only thing he could do was to go to a program to get himself right before he can worry about any of the other things around him.
He kept telling me, ‘but my son’, ‘but my ex-‘, ‘but (fill in the blank)’. I told him none of that mattered if he was a drunk and addicted to pills, or worse, dead. He finally realized he needed to get himself right before he could guide his son and maybe one day be an example to others.
Jesus does not tell his disciples to ‘go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you’ and then go get yourself right with the Father. No he says the above knowing that His disciples have already decided to follow Him and the Father. He knows they are ready to move on from receiving to giving. He knows that they have gotten right themselves and are ready to lead others to get right.
The same is true in the life of man. A man must be breathing pure oxygen before he can help his fellow passengers. He must accelerate his Fitness, Fellowship and Faith before he can hope to have IMPACT or lead. He has to Get Right first before he does anything else.
