22 Fast HIMS of the Rock Region gathered today at Wall Street to enjoy some time for fellowship and running.  As the top of the approached at 0500 YHC explained the route for today and that it would be about 5.5 to 6 miles.  A disclaimer was provided and a reminder to encourage one another and always remember to pick up the six.  All of the warm-up was OYO and at 0500 we rolled out

The Thang –

Our route for the day was as follows.  We rolled out of the AO and headed down Herlong towards the Food Lion.  Turned right on Ebenezer then turned left on Frank Gaston Blvd behind the hospital.  After making it back to Herlong we took a left and then a right turn down Ebenezer.  Next we turned right on Camden, right on Cherry Road then a quick left on Alumni Drive.  We went up Alumni Drive and circled the perimeter of the Winthrop campus.  Then we headed down Oakland Avenue and down India Hook back to the AO.  Everybody did a great job taking care of the six and lifting up each other, encouraging one another.  Everyone got in at least 5 miles and a few of the speed demons got about 7.  Great job by everyone pushing the rock in the Gloom!

Once we made it back to the COT after some confusion by YHC on who was in and otherwise, YHC shared the following verse with the PAX

James 1 : 2-4

Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature & complete, not lacking anything

YHC shared with the PAX that this verse is one of my personal favorites and serves as a great reminder that each of us have either been through tough times or will one day go through tough times.  It simply cannot be avoided.  It’s part of life.  The difference is not in the situation or the person going through the issue but at its heart lies in the response.  Do you wallow in misery and say “Why me?” or do you maintain a positive attitude and recognize that you can control what you can control and how will you come out on the other side?  Out of adversity comes strength – lean on your brothers – lean on your shield lock and be stronger on the other side.  Then help others down the road

Lastly, we closed with a few announcements along with prayers & praises

Thanks Honey Pot for the opportunity to lead today – it’s always an honor to do so
