This week, we discuss the mission and Core Principles with Pistol. Pistol is a double respect and is, quite honestly; on of the most High Impact Men you’ll meet. I’m grateful for Pistol’s friendship and his spirit of love for all men.
Pistol is a former site Q at BTC (he will tell you he’s not a runner, but he’s a runner) and due to work commitments, usually posts on Saturdays out at Planet Pain.
Here we go:
Q1: Tell us name, age, who brought you out, and how you got your F3 Handle?
Doug Sumwalt -Age 61 – Andrew Long ( Gauge ) and received my name from IJ after I told him I gave my life to Christ at a Billy Graham crusade where Pete ‘ Pistol ‘ Maravich was giving his testimony.
Q2: What does the Mission of F3: “THE MISSION OF F3 IS TO PLANT, GROW AND SERVE SMALL WORKOUT GROUPS FOR THE INVIGORATION OF MALE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP” mean to you?
It helps men to become better at working out and getting in shape , but also better at communication and listening to others to help us all become better leaders in our own lives, in our families and our community and our faith.
Why is it important? Because men keep things to themselves , we try to handle the stresses of life own our own and we need accountability from others to hold us accountable for our actions throughout life and helping others in our day to day activities.
Q3: Since we’re talking about the basic tenets of what make F3 special, let’s continue with the second core principle. What does it mean to you that F3 is open to all men and why is it important?
Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them also ” .My personal journey with F3 has helped me to build friendships with men that I normally would not have encountered on a day to day basis. I came out for fitness reason but learned quickly its much more than that. The openness of the group of brothers helped me to come out of my shell and become a better listener and helper in my Christian walk. To be open to all men means we do not discriminate against anyone regardless of your physical shape, faith , or values. We simply are there for each other and to help each other get better in life and not to judge.
Q4: What else would you like to share with our Pax?
The thing that made me come back to F3 a 2nd,3rd,time etc was the follow up by my brothers. Gauge stayed on me for 6 months to come out and try. My first workout I had a couple of brothers name IJ and Reborn attending and needless to say I could not pick my arm up to shave for church the next day Sunday. But throughout my workout those 2 kept coming back to check on me and encouraging me to finish. I have never forgotten that and I have been fortunate enough to help others. Thankful for all my brothers in F3.
Pistol, on behalf of the men of F3, we’re grateful for you and your impact.
