Be a Better Man

    • When: 9/19/19
    • QIC: Ponytail

18 HIMS of the Rock Region gathered today at Wally World / Falcon Zero to run – and what a great morning it was to run with temperatures hovering around 60 degrees.  As the appointed hour approached YHC shared with the PAX what the route was going to be for today and since no FNG’s were present a brief disclaimer was provided.  A few guys were left to bang out long runs (nice job PCH & Jelly on the 15) and a few guys decided to do laps on the track.  Another reason why this is such a great AO, providing multiple options

The Thang –

The route for today was as follows:

Left out of the AO down Eden Terrace / Left on Anderson / Left on Cherry / go about 2.5 miles on well lit and safe sidewalks / Left on the hill to the entrance to the Coliseum / loop behind the Coliseum / Right down Eden Terrace / finish at the track for about 4.8 – 5 miles and get extra mileage on the track or finish with sprints, intervals or cool down.  All of the PAX did a great job looking after each other, taking care of the six and encouraging one another.  Thanks for the push & the pull

We closed out the morning in COT with a few announcements along with prayers & praises

YHC shared the following with the PAX –

I was listening to a Podcast the other day on ‘How to be a Better Man’ and the words spoke to me & I shared them with the PAX –

1 – Be selfish, Prioritize time for yourself

2 – Stop the BS – say what you mean

3 – Be disciplined – a disciplined mind doesn’t need motivation

4 – Stop comparing yourself to others

5 – Embrace the struggle – it’s there whether you like it or not

YHC added a 6th – Pray, pray with your wife, let your kids see you pray.  All of these are intended to help us be a better version of ourselves without comparing ourself to one another.  There’s no point in doing that anyway.  You don’t know enough about another man’s journey to make judgements on it.  Just be the best you, you can be.  Be a better man, today…tomorrow…and the next day…and the next…

Thanks Slow Pitch for the opportunity to lead today – it’s always honor to be asked to do so

Ponytail out –
