    • When: 11/18/19

11 HIM’s of the Rock Region gathered today at Independence this cool Monday morning to sharpen iron and enjoy the Gloom.  Independence is a great AO and represents for me the place of my VQ several years ago.  There were no FNG’s in the Gloom today so YHC shared a quick disclaimer and reminded everyone to give full effort, enjoy time with your brothers, encourage one another & take care of the six.  We began with a quick warm-up which included SSH, Seal Jacks, Cherry Pickers, Windmills and Overhead Claps

The Thang –

After the warm-up was completed we moseyed out across Oakland Ave to the front of Tillman Hall where JAG led our group in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Then we headed over to the breezeway at the DiGiorgio Center for some core engagement.  We began with a plank and a set of ATM’s (Alternating shoulder taps – Tempo merkins – Merkins) – a real chest burner and core engager for later.  Next we headed over to Scholar’s Walk and from one light pole to the next we did Toy soldiers, Butt-kickers, high keens, shuffle left then shuffle right followed by Lt. Dangers (lunge-lunge-squat-merkin), then jail break to the opposite end of the Walk.  YHC then explained that we were to do a Merking Pyramid with about 50 yards in between.  The plan was to add 5 at each end going 5-10-15-20-25-20-15-10-5 for 125 total.  Next we headed over to the front of Byrnes for some leg work and more chest/shoulders.  We began with 10 leg lifts each leg followed by a set of Irkins, dips and Dirkins (which were cut short at 5) for some unexplained reason – YHC.  Next we went for a short mosey around the auditorium and back up Scholar’s walk to the big circle for some more core engagement.  We started with plank and did LBC’s, Dying cockroaches, American Hammers.  Then we headed back out to the front of Tillman and crossed Oakland to go the back way to COT where we concluded the workout with a set of Dan Taylors (4:1 ratio lunges & squats) maxing out at 20 lunges and 5 squats.  All in all it was a full body workout by a very fit group and all the PAX did a great job giving max effort, encouraging one another and taking care of the six

YHC shared the following –

Thanksgiving is a time where everyone remembers the things that we are grateful for and we all have much to be grateful for.  Our health, friends & family, jobs…We are certainly blessed.  My challenge to the PAX today was what I termed the ‘Gratitude Challenge’.  What if we took the spirit of gratitude at Thanksgiving and applied to the April, February or November 18th in the Gloom.  What if we were all more intentional in showing Gratitude to others all the time or at least more often.  My challenge is let’s do that this week and celebrate at the Gobble Wobble.  YHC shared a few ways to do this.  Call that friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while.  Leave a generous tip with your server, Praise someone’s boss at the store the next time someone is kind or helpful.  The possibilities are endless.  Let’s all be more grateful and show gratitude and watch how it makes you feel, but more importantly know it will make an impact on someone else

We concluded the morning with a few announcements along with prayers & praises just as the rain began to fall.  Thanks Anchor Bar for the opportunity to lead today, it’s always an honor to do so
