Anchor Bar’s Famous Chicken Wings and other things
- When: 02/05/2020
- QIC: Anchor Bar
- The PAX: JAG (R), PCH, High Pockets, Money Bags, Rasta, Samurai (R), Anchor Bar (R)
There were seven of us including one rucker that gather on this “spring like” morning in February. Rasta and PCH got in some extra credit with a pre-run.
I gave the usual disclaimer before we started with the warm up which consisted of:
- 1 Dozen Side Straddle Hops IC
- 1 Dozen Imperial Walkers IC
- 1 Dozen Windmills IC
- 1 Dozen Cherry Pickers IC
We moseyed to the side parking lot for our first routine. I gave my back story and how I came to be known as Anchor Bar. When I was an FNG, I explained to the pax that I was from Jamestown, NY. No one knew where that was, so I went on to say that it is about 70 miles south of Buffalo. Someone chimed in and mentioned the name of a restaurant in Buffalo called The Anchor Bar. So, I was born. The Anchor Bar’s claim to fame is it is the first place to make chicken wings as we know them today, so I developed a workout I call Anchor Bar’s Famous Chicken Wings. Chicken wings are typically served mild, medium, hot and extra hot and typically served with bleu cheese and celery. Anchor Bar’s Famous Chicken Wings is a Four Corners routine where each corner consists of similar exercises but each corner is slightly more difficult than the previous. After each round we would go to the center to cool down with some Bleu Cheese and Celery (Low Slow Squats).

It was estimated that football fans consumed 1.3 billion chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday. This morning between six of us, we “consumed” 1,1440 Anchor Bar’s Famous Chicken Wings. Good work, pax.
After a ten count and a quick word about Grace, we moseyed to the next parking lot over for our next routine which was The Bear-Muda Triangle. This consisted of three markers place 20 yards apart in the shape of a triangle. Starting at the first marker, each pax bear crawled to the next marker and performed one burpee, bear crawled to the next marker and performed two burpees and finally bear crawled back to the first marker and performed three burpees. After a ten count we performed the routine a second time. Luckily, we did not lose any pax in the Bear-Muda Triangle.
After a ten another ten count we moseyed back to the AO for some AB Lab before we closed with the COT.
In the COT, usual count, name-o-rama, shared some announcements and we lifted up our spouses and Ponytail’s M (Trudy) who was going through back surgery this morning.
I closed us with prayer. As always, it is an honor and privilege to lead. Thank you for the opportunity, Rasta.
Anchor Bar out.
