Thank you to the 17 PAX who showed up at Old Town on this beautiful gloom to sharpen iron and push each other. It was a blessing to be back at this AO with my brothers and facing the gloom together and not alone. We have had some time apart and this was a great day to start back on.
We began this workout by splitting up into groups of 9 or less. Honeypot took some and YHC took some. White Hat and Homer went rucking together.
My group then began the morning with the following in cadence: Side Straddle Hops, Imperial Walkers, Low Slow Squats, Peter Parker Peters, Merkins, and 10 6-Count Burpees. We then took a mosey over to the down the road a little for a round of the following all in cadence: Merkins, Carolina Dry Docks, Low Slow Squats, and Freddy Mercurys. Then we took another mosey to the fountain garden for a round of Irkins, Dips, Squats, Derkins, and V-Ups.
Honeypot’s group warmed up with this: 20 SSH, 12 merkins, 20 mountain climbers.
After this everyone was pretty much warm, so we headed over to the backside of the hot box. At the bottom we began with 20 Merkins; went up half a level to the other entrance for 20 Carolina Dry Docks; up half a level for 20 Lunges; up for 20 Flutters; up for 20 Diamond Merkins; up for 20 Pike Presses; up for 20 Low Slow Jump Squats; up for 20 Big Boy Sit-ups; and up for 10 Burpees. Upon arrival at the top, YHC told the PAX the goal now was to do the same routine one more time at your own pace and follow the instructions below.
There was a request: once you made it to the top you were to go back to the 6 and finish the round with them. So, go as fast as possible to reach the top, pick up the 6 and finish with them. We did this one more time.
Then we started back toward the COT and stopped once for some Merkins and Squats and once at a wall on the way for some people’s chair.
Honeypot’s Thang was the following: Mosey to the amphitheater. Do 20 merkins, 20 derkins, 20 Irkins, 20 dips, 20 step ups, Take lap around the amphitheater. Repeat for 5 rounds.
Mosey to the Harold office steps for the following: 50 LBC, 50 Flutters, 50 hello dollies, 50 Rosalitas, 50 American hammers. After each round run up the steps. Repeat for five rounds
Then we headed back to the COT where Honeypot’s group met us.
Today our Region officially starts back to morning gloom Workouts and our State begins to reopen to a somewhat normal state. What I want to challenge you men to do as this happens is to not go back to normal. What I believe we should strive for is a new normal. This is not a time for us to sit by as HIM and not lead. This is a time to focus on what is ahead and the things we can accomplish in our homes and our communities with this new perspective we have on life.
We should be leaders in our homes, churches, workplaces, and communities. This leadership is going to look different for each man as each of us have different opinions, but we should all be leaders where we are. Whatever that means for you, we are called to lead, and lead is what we should and will do.
Respect the law, respect our Regional leadership and their guidance, and most of all respect each other. If we do this, we will in the end be a better Region and be a better community because of it.
