Farming MANU

    • When: 06/25/20
    • QIC: Atticus
    • The PAX: Atticus, Gold Plate, White Hat, Triad, Socrates

On a wet and rainy morning 5 pax came out to the gloom and forsook the fartsack for a workout and a lesson on what faith and farming have in common.  We started with the following warmup.

Low Slow Squat

The Thing – Ode to my Farming Father

We walked to the prearranged lot that had 5 cones set up with 5 exercises on each one.  We took 5 trips walking from cone to cone across the lot.  Each trip represented one thing that a farmer would do to a field as outlined below.  Before each trip we talked about faith and a scripture associated with each work a farmer would do.  Each PAX was assigned one cone and called out the exercise each round at that cone to a count of 12 for each exercise.

I told the following story about my father.  When I was 15 years old my dad and I got in a fight and I accused my dad of not caring about his kids because he didn’t spend time with them as I expected. He looked at me and told me that he cherished the time that he spent with his sons on the farm.  He said that he was so glad that he had a career where he could work with his sons and teach them to work at the same time.  He said that this is how he knew how to show love.  I looked at farming and farming with my dad differently and better after that time. Life isn’t always what we think but with god we can do great things.

We then went to the fountain for fountain work.  We did 10 rounds of each of the following.

Soccer Kicks

Step Ups
