Patience at PHOP

    • When: 09/23/20

It was an honor to lead 3 other HIM this morning at Padre’s House of Pain, better known in the Region as PHOP. This is an AO that I don’t visit often, but always enjoy coming out to. This is due to the fact of distance to the AO from the house and that Wednesday mornings are filled up with Whetstone, Shieldlock and Mammon Meetings. After 3 PAX PreRan, YHC had all brothers circle up for the F3 Disclaimer.

We began the warmup with the following in cadence: Side Straddle Hops, Imperial Walkers, Low Slow Squats, Peter Parker Peters, Merkins, and 10 6-Count Burpees. Then we took a short mosey around the church to get in some mileage.

The setting up prior to our PreRun included tires and blocks, but there was something YHC wanted to do prior to getting started with the gear. Below is what we did as a Tribute to our brother Padre, who now lives in Powdersville and posts regularly at F3 Swamp Rabbit.

YHC requested the PAX do 4 Corners around the church performing the following (all done in cadence due to low numbers and to stay together):
Corner 1-10 6-Count Burpees.
Corner 2-10 6-Count Burpees, 20 Merkins.
Corner 3-10 6-Count Burpees, 20 Merkins, 30 shoulder taps (double count).
Corner 4-10 6-Count Burpees, 20 Merkins, 30 shoulder taps, 40 Mountain Climbers (double count).

Then we took another mosey around the church with Honeypot stating the whole time he was saving his shoulders for the IPC Week 4 Workout.

We then went over to the gear YHC had previously set up to perform a circuit of exercises with the blocks and tires: The exercises were Tire Flips, Curls, Tricep Extensions, Low Slow Squats w/Block, Overhead Presses, Bent Over Rows, Big Boy Sit-ups, Flutters w/Block Press, Lateral Lunges w/Block.

The timing mechanism was one PAX performing a Farmer’s Carry from the Circle for about 50 M and back.

At the appropriate time we finished and put the gear back in its place.

During the PreRun, Tinker Toy mentioned to me current struggles with his teenage daughter, something I have dealt with as well. If you have children of that age you understand; if you do not, you will one day understand. As we ran, all I could think about was the word and characteristic of patience. We as HIM must have this characteristic because if we do not, most situations we face will seem as if they are a mountain and not a mole hill.

We must always look inward when faced with these situations to see if there is anything we can do to patiently allow struggling sons or daughters make mistakes and learn from them. We must also take a look into our own hearts to see the sins of our own life before trying to correct theirs.

Stay strong Tinker Toy and others; reach out to a brother for support.

Ephesians 4:1-3 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
