Of all the options available this morning, these four men joined me. That is because F3 represents something to each of us. A chance to work out and better ourselves. A chance to push others to get better. A chance to socialize. A chance to argue. Maybe all of these at the same time.
But ultimately it provides a sense of community. Every election year it seems like a part of our nation is ready to declare war on another part of our nation. Social media is abuzz with the tensions. Our national media sensationalizes the extreme left and right wing and fans the flames of division because it sells ratings. Old men stand behind podiums and yell rehearsed speeches without actually engaging in debate.
But none of this is important. What is important is that this morning men who agree on some things and disagree on others came together and put in work. We created a bond that supersedes the trash that can be found on screens. A bond that can be used to find common ground and move forward. That’s how we solve problems that plague our world- through a show of unity and hard work.
There are problems in our community that need to be addressed. They are too big for one man, or even a small group of men.
I am looking forward to building a bond with my brothers as we strive towards to goal of solving these problems and creating a more perfect union.
