It was an honor to lead 4 other HIM this cool breezy morning at Padre’s House of Pain, better known in the Region as PHOP. This is an AO that I don’t visit often, but always enjoy visiting. After 3 PAX PreRan, YHC had all brothers circle up for the F3 Disclaimer and Warmup.
We began the warmup with the following in cadence: Side Straddle Hops, Imperial Walkers, Low Slow Squats, Peter Parker Peters, Merkins, and 10 6-Count Burpees. Then we took a short mosey around the church to get in some mileage.
The setting up prior to our PreRun included setting up cones in a star like shape with one in the center and then 6 other cones exactly 25 feet from the center cone.
After the Warmup YHC asked the PAX to grab a coupon of the same weight if possible. Then we commenced to perform a spinoff of the 2020 IPC Week 2 Workout. At the center cone each time you came to it the PAX were to do 20 Squat Thrusters with the coupon. Then Rifle Carry the coupon out to the first cone and perform 20 Derkins at that cone with the coupon, then Rifle Carry back to the center cone. Perform 20 Squat Thrusters and Rifle Carry to the 2nd Cone for 20 Double Count Lunges with the Coupon. Then back to the center for 20 Squat Thrusters and so on. We did this for the remainder of the time.
The exercises at the outer cones were as follows with 20-reps each. Derkins; Double Count Lunges; Overhead Presses; Coupon Curls; Tricep Extensions; and Man-Makers.
We then put our coupons away and made the way to the COT for a Cooldown of the following: Side Straddle Hops, Imperial Walkers, Low Slow Squats, Peter Parker Peters, Merkins.
YHC recently had a ShieldLock dinner at Catfish’s house where a lot was discussed over 3.5 hours including the upcoming year of 2021. One item of discussion that came up was extremely close to one of our ShieldLocks and it was troubling him to say the least. Troubling him to tears of frustration, hurt, and anger all wrapped up together.
This is where the rest of us stepped in and allowed our brother to share and we just sat and listened. We had some advice, but not much. We just listened. I know I will not forget that conversation for years to come.
What came out of that conversation for me was that when my brother is hurt, I am hurt. When he was tearing up my heart was torn. When he was angry, I was angry for the fact he had been attacked. It proved that as one man he is not able to take on the loads of this world alone. He needs other men to share with and spread the load of the burdens of his life.
We all do.
I ask you today, who is in your ShieldLock that you can share your deepest feelings and thoughts with? Who can you share your struggles with? Who can you share your joy with?
If you do not have someone, I encourage you to reach out to Smiley Face or Jester to discuss where to start.
And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him-a threefold cord is not quickly broken. – Ecclesiastes 4:12

The PAX shared their prayers and praises and YHC lifted them up.
